What a lovely and moving surprise arrived in my mailbox today (brought a big smile … and a tear to my eye) – a postcard from my dear childhood friends Bee Vall & Renata Vydrová Kimmerly – all the way from Prague where they were visiting. The postage stamp is especially significant – it is the first stamp honouring Sir Nicholas Winton (since his death July 1 at age 106), the dear man who brought my dad and 669 other Czech Kindertransport children to safety in the UK in 1939. And of course, a wonderful, whimsical kitty on the front. Love you 2 ladies – my sestras! I will treasure this.
